Now that we have been living in a pandemic for almost two years, most are familiar with the best-known coronavirus symptoms. However, experts believe that the new Omicron variant also causes other symptoms.
Other Symptoms
Scientists are busy investigating Omicron, so many questions remain. However, previous reports have shown that Omicron is different from previous Covid variants. For example, the serious symptoms would now be much less present. Scientists from South Africa, who were the first to discover the new variant, have said the majority of patients affected by Omicron did not require oxygen. It seems to hit the lungs less.
Women’s Health UK spoke to Professor Tim Spector, genetic epidemiologist at King’s College London, who reveals what symptoms to watch out for:
- Headache
- A sore throat
- fatigue
- Running nose
- To sneeze
The above symptoms are only then followed by the classic symptoms of a Covid infection, although more than 50% of people do not suffer from this at the moment:
- A fever
- Cough
- Loss of smell
There are significant differences between different substances.

Milder
Patients would mainly suffer from fatigue, but not lose their taste and smell. The symptoms seem to be a lot milder with a sore throat and headache compared to the other variants that involve a high fever and breathing problems. The professor emphasizes that, as with all variants, it also depends on your age and general health. One can therefore always experience it more intensely than another.
