“This just happens to you. We do everything we can and empathize with the next of kin,” says director Paul van Gennip. On King’s Day he spoke of ‘a factor of happiness’ that no one was infected at the time. Two days later, April 30, the first infection appeared, it now appears.
“After that, the virus quickly spread around,” says van Gennip. All infections have been detected at the headquarters, on Haaswijkweg Oost in the Dubbeldam district. No one has yet tested positive at the five other branches of Het Parkhuis.
At the main location, the virus mainly housed one department. Measures were taken immediately. For example, part of the new building has been accelerated as an insulation department for infected residents. Nevertheless, an infection has now also been identified in another department.
A program has been developed in consultation with the GGD, in which all residents and employees of the main location of the Parkhuis will be tested in the short term. Anyone who receives complaints will be tested immediately. In this way, a good picture of the actual number of infections must be obtained.
