Coronavirus – South Africa records record increase in infections

In South Africa on Friday, July 2, 24,270 new cases of coronavirus infection were recorded. This is the highest daily increase in incidence in the country since the start of the pandemic.

The previous anti-record for the increase in patients with coronavirus in South Africa was set in January – 21,980 people.

“We are truly at the epicenter of the third wave of coronavirus storm. In the past 14 days, we have surpassed the daily infection rate seen in the first two waves,” said Deputy Health Minister Joe Fahla.

From the beginning of the pandemic in the country, 2 million people fell ill with coronavirus, 61,332 died from complications.
