The Russian authorities have confirmed this Wednesday more than 24,000 cases of coronavirus during the last day, with which the balance thus exceeds the threshold of 3.3 million infections since the start of the pandemic.
The national operational center for the fight against the coronavirus has detailed that during the last day there have been 24,217 cases and 445 deaths, which places the totals at 3,308,601 and 59,951, respectively, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik.
He also stated that during the last 24 hours 23,055 people have been discharged from hospital after recovering from COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, bringing the total to 2,685,723 at this time.
The head of the institute that developed the vaccine, Alexander Gintsburg, noted Tuesday that more than a million people have been vaccinated so far, before adding that about 100,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine are being inoculated every day.
The authorities hope to have completed before November the vaccination of 70 percent of the 146 million inhabitants of Russia, reports the DPA agency. Local laboratories expect to produce about 500 billion doses this year, largely for export.
