The list of countries that have taken the step of reconfinement, partial or total, to cope with the second wave of the novel coronavirus epidemic, is growing in Europe.

Ireland: On October 22, Ireland was the first country in Europe to reconfine its entire population. The nearly five million Irish are under house arrest for six weeks, but schools remain open. Portugal : Portugal will be subject from Wednesday to a new partial confinement, which will affect around 70% of its population.

Greece: Authorities announced partial containment from Tuesday, with a nighttime curfew and the month-long closure of bars, restaurants and gyms in Athens and other cities across the country.

Austria: New confinement, from Tuesday and until the end of November, with the establishment of a curfew and the closure of restaurants, hotels, cultural and sports institutions.
Spain: A closure has been decreed by almost all the Spanish regions in order to limit travel before the weekend of All Saints.
Apart from Extremadura, which is sparsely populated, all the regions of mainland Spain have sealed off their territory or, as in Galicia, that of certain municipalities. The majority of these closures will last two weeks. In Madrid, the measure will only apply this weekend and the next, both extended.
Germany : On October 28, the German authorities announced a new turn of the screw, without going as far as a reconfinement.
