Coronavirus postpones end of service for Windows 10

For many Windows 10 users, version 1709 is already a distant memory. Its support ended in April 2019. However, with Enterprise and Education editions, this end of service was scheduled for April 14, 2020.

Microsoft has decided to shake up this calendar and pushes the deadline to October 13, 2020. For the affected devices, they will only receive monthly security updates from May to October. The final security update will be released on October 13.

The measure also affects the IoT Enterprise edition of Windows 10. According to Microsoft, it follows customer comments and in relation to the current health situation. By pushing back the deadline, this will reduce the burdens faced by IT teams.

Many of us are now working remotely and our daily lives have been uniquely affected. At Microsoft, our top priority is the health and safety of our employees, customers, partners, and communities “, writes Microsoft.

The Redmond group does not specify how many of its customers are still affected by Windows 10 version 1709.
