Coronavirus. Portuguese detained in Japan test negative

There are eight Portuguese, five crew members and three passengers, on a cruise ship off Japan with 61 confirmed cases of people infected with the new coronavirus.

However, in the case of the eight Portuguese, all had negative test results. “They are asymptomatic and are doing well”, guarantees the general director of Health, Graça Freitas.

“The authorities continue to inform Portugal about these citizens. To date, we are calm,” he added.

About the 20 Portuguese citizens repatriated from Wuhan, who were transferred to Pulido Valente Hospital on Thursday, remain in prophylactic isolation, without symptoms of coronavirus and in “completely stable situation”.

“Every day that passes gives us more peace of mind”, said the director general of Health, Graça Freitas.

Graça Freitas also added that the date is yet to be set for carrying out the analyzes again, closer to the end of the quarantine period.

This group arrived in Portugal earlier this week and showed no signs of coronavirus in the first tests carried out.
