Let us recall that on Wednesday, October 14, the Ministry of Health informed about 6,526 new cases of coronavirus infection in Poland, as well as 116 deaths of COVID-19 patients.
116 deaths per covid per day is the second highest value in Europe, according to worldometers.info data. More – 239 deaths – were recorded only in Russia.
In the world, Poland ranks 6th in terms of the daily number of deaths. Only Mexico (475), Iran (279), Indonesia (129), the United States (127) and the aforementioned Russia are higher.
In terms of the number of new cases, Poland ranks 4th in Europe (as of 4.30 pm), behind Russia (14,231), Belgium (7,360) and the Netherlands (7,287).
How rapidly the epidemic accelerated in Poland compared to the rest of Europe is also demonstrated by the data on hospitalization.
As Jakub Krupa, a former PAP correspondent in Great Britain, points out, many more COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in Poland, and more respirators are seized than in the UK. And this despite a smaller population.
