“Covid strikes again”, Rock Werchter’s Instagram page reads with the announcement that Greta Van Fleet will not play on Friday. Earlier, Clairo and The Regrettes had also canceled their sets due to infections. Whether Red Hot Chili Peppers will play on Sunday is still uncertain.

Two years in a row, the corona virus prevented Rock Werchter from continuing. But those who had hoped for a corona-free edition this year will come home from a bare fair. On the first two days of the festival, the organization had to announce four canceled sets, three of which were due to corona infections. It seems unlikely that the counter will stop here.
Greta Van Fleet was supposed to be on the Main Stage tonight, but a band member tested positive today. Turnstile moves from The Barn to the main stage to fill the void, they are not replaced there. Earlier today, Charlotte Adigéry & Bolis Pupul played a set at the Klub C, replacing the American Clairo. The coronavirus was also the culprit here. Tonight The Haunted Youth will play a set on The Slope. They replace The Regrettes, who canceled because of – you guessed it – corona infections. Sam Fender didn’t show up on Thursday, but he was said to have tonsillitis.
The big clappers don’t escape the damn virus either. Red Hot Chili Peppers canceled their show in Glasgow tonight due to “illness”. Fans can only hope that it is not a corona infection with a band member, because the group would close Rock Werchter on the Main Stage on Sunday. It is not yet clear whether or not that party will take place.
