That the vaccines are effective in stopping the coronavirus pandemic is now empirically proven. The results of clinical studies and epidemiological investigations are showing this.
Despite this, there is a lot of talk about the use of the third dose also because as many studies underline how the protection of vaccines against the virus decreases with the passage of time.
The American study
From the data that emerge from a new American study, the result is that, for example, after four months the effectiveness of the vaccine Pfizer versus hospitalization it drops to 77%. On the other hand, that of the vaccine Modern remains stable at 92%. The protagonists of this research were the scientists of the COVID-19 Response Team of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention – Centers for the prevention and control of diseases), who worked in synergy with colleagues from the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Texas A&M University College of Medicine; of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Baltimore Johns Hopkins Hospital, Montefiore Healthcare Center in New York and many other institutes throughout the United States. The team led by Professors Natalie J. Thornburg and Manish M. Pater analyzed data from approximately 3,700 American adults aged 18 and over, all admitted to 21 U.S. hospitals (in 18 different states) between 11 March and August 15 of this year.
