Police dissolve celebrations in Hamburg’s city park again
On Sunday night, the police again broke up celebrations in Hamburg’s city park. According to the police, up to 2500 celebrants met there without paying attention to the intervals prescribed by the Corona regulation. With the onset of darkness, the mood had become increasingly aggressive, according to the police.
Officials were thrown with bottles and pyrotechnics. At about 0.15 a.m. they began to clear the large meadow. Ten people were provisionally arrested. Two officers were slightly injured. The night before, there had been several clashes and arrests in the city park when the police broke up the celebrations.

Politicians are calling for a faster second vaccination
Opposition health experts are calling for a faster second vaccination to slow the spread of the Delta variant. “With a view to the delta variant, the second vaccination should urgently be brought forward for mRNA vaccines and should take place three weeks after the first vaccination,” said the member of the Bundestag for the Greens and emergency physician Janosch Dahmen of “Welt am Sonntag”.
The FDP MP and infectious disease specialist Andrew Ullmann made a similar statement. The President of the German Association of General Practitioners, Ulrich Weigeldt, was skeptical, however. “Unfortunately, we still do not have enough vaccine available and almost half the population has not even received the first vaccination.”

Teachers’ Association calls for a “safety phase” after summer vacation
The Association for Education and Upbringing (VBE) is pushing for a “safety phase” after the summer holidays with increased tests and a mask requirement in schools, regardless of the incidence rate. “Especially at the beginning of school operations, we have to exercise increased caution. We therefore demand a security phase of at least 14 days after the summer holidays,” said VBE boss Udo Beckmann to the editorial network Germany (RND). During this time, more tests must be carried out.
Berlin could be a role model. According to the information, the capital wants to test students three times in the first week and twice in the second week. In addition, the mask requirement in the building and in class should be reinstated during these two weeks, demanded Beckmann. “Of course this is not the start we would like. But it is better to be careful than to be left behind – and we have had enough in the last few months.”

Holetschek: Strictly control returning travelers
According to the wishes of Bavaria’s Minister of Health, Klaus Holetschek, vacationers who return to Germany from abroad should be closely checked for vaccination cards and negative corona tests at the borders. This is what the CSU politician, who is also chairman of the conference of health ministers, told “Bild am Sonntag” with a view to the rapid spread of the Delta variant.
“In contrast to last summer, nationwide test systems have been set up throughout Germany. It is crucial that tests are carried out before entry and that the test certificates are not just randomly checked at the border crossings and airports,” said Holetschek. The federal government and the state are in close cooperation to ensure close controls during the travel time.
