US researchers have come up with a surprising theory for a new treatment for Covid-19. In your opinion, estrogen is an effective way of treating infected men. Is that correct?
Doctors and researchers around the world are meticulously examining the novel corona virus. American doctors have now made a discovery that sheds new light on the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

As the British “Metro” reports, Covid-19 is said to have different effects on the course of the disease in men and women. Worldwide, male patients showed more severe symptoms and died twice as often from the consequences of the lung disease than women. For this reason, researchers from two US hospitals believe that estrogen strengthens women’s immune systems, minimizes inflammation and thus prevents a serious course of the disease. The Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University, Long Island, New York, is responsible for the first study.
The study is conducted with 110 patients who show symptoms but do not need to be intubated. The male patients are divided into two groups. One group receives an estrogen patch and the other is treated without the sex hormone. After a week, the scientists want to see if the hormone was able to eliminate the infection.
“We may not understand exactly how estrogen works, but maybe we can see how the patient is doing. We see that women become infected, but their reactions are different. We see that fewer of them have the second, unregulated immune response have, “says study leader Dr. Sharon Nachman.

Coronavirus study: researchers test progesterone as an active ingredient
At the same time, the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles has started a similar check-up. There, 40 men with mild to moderate Covid 19 symptoms are examined. Half of the participants are given the sex hormone progesterone, which is also known as the yellow body hormone. How does it work? In short: it regulates the female menstrual cycle with estrogen and prepares the body for pregnancy. Men also form the hormone, as a by-product of steroid and testosterone synthesis, but only in small amounts. In order to draw real conclusions, long-term studies have to be carried out so-called “blind studies”. This is the only way to really prove the effect.
