Coronavirus: New York 2020 Show Finally Canceled

Initially postponed to the end of August, the New York 2020 show, which was originally scheduled to be held in April, was finally canceled due to the coronavirus.

The coronavirus has just made a new victim: the New York auto show. The 2020 edition of the American meeting which was initially to be held from April 8 to 17 but which had been postponed, at the beginning of March, at the end of August because of the coronavirus epidemic, has finally and quite simply been canceled.
It was the show’s organizers who announced the news last Friday. However, they wanted at all costs to avoid the cancellation because the meeting generates more than 330 million dollars (more than 300 million euros) in profits each year, benefiting both the staff dedicated to it and the sector. the New York hotel industry, among others.

The dates of the 2021 edition are already known!

The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, which was to host the event, is also still used as a hospital and place of care to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
The next edition of the New York show will therefore take place from April 2 to 11, 2021.
Before New York, the Geneva Motor Show and the Paris Motor Show, which were to be held in March and October respectively, had also been canceled. The Beijing 2020 show, which was scheduled to take place in April, has for the time been postponed to the end of September.

The end of traditional auto shows?

These cascading cancellations should not help the big international shows, more and more deserted in recent years by car manufacturers. Now, they prefer to organize their own private events even if currently, given the health crisis, the presentation of new products is done exclusively virtual, via the Internet.
