Coronavirus: nearly 450,000 contamination of nurses worldwide

The COVID-19 pandemic has killed more than 600 nurses worldwide and nearly 450,000 of them have been infected with the new coronavirus, according to a new estimate released Wednesday by the International Council of Nurses (ICN).

Extrapolating the data collected in thirty countries, this organization, which brings together more than 130 national nurses associations and represents more than 20 million professionals, estimated that the mortality linked to COVID-19 in the profession had more than doubled in over the past month.
“These numbers continue to grow,” CII chief executive Howard Catton told Reuters Television.
If health professionals pay a heavy price in the current health crisis, precise data are still lacking on this subject, according to the ICN.
On average, 7% of all COVID-19 cases (the lung disease developed by some of the patients infected with the coronavirus), concern caregivers.
