“Rapid action must be taken to maintain the success achieved so far in the fight against the virus,” his office said in a statement.
Bannett instructed officials to step up epidemiological investigations and genetic testing of those diagnosed with the AY4.2 strain. He also called for close cooperation and exchange of information with countries in which this strain was also identified, especially with Europe.
