The document, which ended up in the hands of the WSJ newspaper, has not yet been published by the organization. It admits that the coronavirus may have entered China after it originated elsewhere. The publication notes that the theory of the emergence of coronavirus in another country was put forward by the Chinese authorities, but it was opposed in Washington and other Western countries.
WHO experts in their report recommend “a more thorough study of data from hospitals in China and blood samples obtained before December 2019”, when the coronavirus was first confirmed in Chinese citizens. Also, the WHO considers it necessary to conduct checks on Chinese farms where animals are raised, because this can help establish how the virus was transmitted to humans.
As journalists told the WSJ, the WHO report also admits that the market in Wuhan was not the source of the coronavirus, but could play some role in its spread, so experts recommend additional checks on other Chinese markets.
