Coronavirus map: Prague is no longer the worst region

According to data from Tuesday morning, the Pelhřimov region has 223 cases per 100,000 inhabitants per week. According to Jiří Kos from the Vysočina hygiene station, it is not possible to show a single outbreak in the region at this time.

“It’s scattered like a shotgun shot,” he told Kos Kos, who recalled that the first outbreak in the Pelhřimov region was in a factory in Pacov, another in a Humpolec retirement home.

The plague also affected Pelhřimov town hall. “I wouldn’t talk about an outbreak there, it’s a few cases, but as it goes on to families, the octopus crawls a little in the contacts of families and family members,” added the hygienist.

The fact that the region is now one of the most problematic, Kos takes it with a grain of salt. “These are more or less statistical games,” he remarked, adding that the Pelhřimov region is the least numerous district of the region with a population of approximately 72,000.

According to him, in the long run, the districts in the Vysočina region are beginning to be compared. “The increased incidence is regularly shifted to each district. The Pelhřimov region is interesting in that no one has been there for an awful long time, “Kos added.

Problematic Uherské Hradiště

The second “worst” is Uherské Hradiště with 219 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. “We attribute the high number of patients to higher tourism in this locality,” Jana Eliška Hošková from the Regional Hygiene Station of the Zlín Region told Práva.

Uherskohradišťsko has been at the forefront of the pandemic in terms of the number of positive patients for covid-19 since the spring months. “Initially, a large number of coronaviruses appeared in Uherskobrodsko, then it was Vlčnov and other villages,” added Hošková.

The region is one of the most popular tourist destinations – because of the monuments, the Baťa canal and because of the large number of wine cellars and traditional folklore events. During September, feasts are held every year in Slovácko, accompanied by feasts, although many municipalities prefer to cancel the celebrations this year.

The Uherské Hradiště town hall proceeded similarly after an agreement with hygiene, when it canceled the traditional Slovácko wine festivals, which were to take place at the beginning of September. Instead, the owners of wine cellars in Hradiště’s Mařatice organized the so-called (non) Wine Festival, which was a smaller event.

Despite the cancellation of the festivities, the mayor of Uherské Hradiště, Stanislav Blaha (ODS), does not see a fundamental problem in holding social, cultural or sports events. “None of the events carried out in recent weeks or months were in conflict with the currently valid hygiene measures in the Czech Republic or the Zlín Region,” Blaha told Práva.

Favorable numbers in the Českolipsko region

Another in the order of the districts with the worst development is the district of Prague-West (207), other districts are already below the limit of 200 cases. Just below this limit is Prague (199) followed by Prague-East (193).

The situation is not favorable in Náchod (181 cases), Kroměříž (175), Liberec (171) or Pilsen (173) and a number of other districts have over 100 cases.

On the contrary, the situation in the Českolipsko region (27 cases), Tachovsko region (33) and in the district of Rychnov nad Kněžnou (35) looks best.
