Coronavirus. Madrid recommends its population to confine themselves

Faced with the sharp increase in Covid-19 cases, the authorities of the province of Madrid decided to recommend that the population reconfigure itself.

According to the daily count of the Ministry of Health, Spain had 386,054 cases of coronavirus, about 8,100 more than the day before.

This increase is higher than that of Thursday, which had been around 7,000. The death toll reached 28,838, 25 more than Thursday.

The region of Madrid is one of the most affected by the pandemic. Thursday, 1,199 were detected there, according to the ministry. There are currently 26 active households (clusters) in the region.

“Avoid unnecessary travel”

In this context, the deputy public health adviser of the regional government of Madrid, Antonio Zapatero, told the press that it was recommended to “Try to stay at home in the areas where there are the most cases”, evoking certain neighborhoods in the south of Madrid and towns in its suburbs such as Leganes, Fuenlabrada or Mostoles.

“We must try to avoid unnecessary travel”, he said, adding that the “Unnecessary meetings” should also be avoided and that there should be no more than ten in a house.

“The virus moves because we move it”, he added, stressing that although the current situation in Madrid is worrying, “It does not justify, I think, to take measures of containment by zones”.
