Coronavirus: liberal nurses in Haute-Loire need help

They have a sense of duty, “energy” to spare, “the desire to make themselves useful”, to take care of patients with Covid-19 (read below), but “no state aid” to take action. A few days before the peak of the epidemic, the liberal nurses of Haute-Loire feel “relegated to the background”, frustrated to see their “surge of solidarity” stopped dead, for lack of masks, gloves, overcoats …

For several days, at the request of the Regional Health Agency (ARS), their unions (Sniil and FNI) have identified volunteers, think about solutions, plan the organization of tours, finalize schedules and maps, designate referents by sector. A real painstaking job. And “everything was off to a good start,” sighs Cécile Bertrand. But Wednesday, after days of rest devoted to the book, the president of the National Union of Nurses and Liberal Nurses of Haute-Loire (Sniil) received a message to make him give up. “We have been told that there will be no state funding for the Liberals in Algeria. It was a slap. ”

Service is in the DNA of these professionals. They have signed and cannot be “said no” in the context of the health crisis facing the country. In Puy as in Brioude or Yssingeaux, they are ready to go to the front.

Provided you are protected, not to endanger the population!

Without a mask, without gloves, without protections, the liberals are like feet and fists tied, helpless.

If they alert Awakening of the Haute-Loire and those around them, it’s not to argue unnecessarily, to point the finger at a manager. They want to “be constructive”, to find alternatives to get them started as quickly as possible. They need “a boost.” This is why they are appealing for donations to businesses and elected officials who, they know, have already been called upon.

Equipment, premises and volunteers

To practice their profession under these special conditions, liberal nurses count on their support to provide them with the material help they so lack. They need “FFP2 masks, charlottes, gloves, overcoats, overshoes, disinfectant wipes and hydroalcoholic gel,” they list.

They are also looking for a place in the Puy basin, if possible equipped with showers, to store protective equipment. All goodwill – in particular physiotherapists, dieticians and other paramedics who are not currently active – are welcome to lend a helping hand, check the conformity of protective equipment and build ready-to-use kits. Hurry up.

To make a donation. If you would like to donate to or support liberal nurses, simply contact the office closest to your home. The procedure to follow will be communicated to you.

Nurses at the bedside of the most vulnerable infected patients
For the past several weeks, the majority of people confirmed positive for Covid-19 and those with symptoms of the disease – and whose state of health is not considered to be of concern – have been followed at home by sending SMS. This remote monitoring, the liberal nurses of Haute-Loire could take care of, so as to relieve the hospital. “We would do remote monitoring,” says Cécile Bertrand, president of Sniil. On prescription, the nurses would contact the patient by telephone to assess his state of health. “If it deteriorates, the person contacted can no longer take his temperature alone due to his state of fatigue, or that we are facing an elderly person in need of care, we will intervene physically at his home”, continues Cecile Bertrand. In the latter case, the nurses will use teleconsultation. In other words, from the patient’s home, they will be guided live by the general practitioner on the phone. In Puy, in order not to risk contaminating other people to whom the nurses visit, a special Covid-19 team has been created. “Nine professionals have volunteered” to provide care to patients with the virus, said the president of Sniil.
