The UK has reached a “point of no return” in the coronavirus pandemic, similar to that of March, and in the coming weeks, in addition to the increase in cases, there will be an increase in deaths: said Professor Jonathan Van- Tam, deputy medical director for England, quoted by the BBC. Currently, the R0 index is between 1.2 and 1.5, he adds. In the UK yesterday 15,166 new cases were registered in 24 hours, 1,302 more than Friday, and 81 victims. Van-Tam warns that the country is in a different position than in March, during the first wave, because now “we are entering the coldest and darkest months of winter. We are in the midst of a serious pandemic and the season is adverse to us. In practice, we are about to encounter headwinds ”. In this situation, he adds, however, the UK has “much better testing capacity” than in the past and “better care” available.
