Lhe mayor of Awans, Thibaud Smolders, is due to meet on Monday afternoon with the management of the Ikea store in Hognoul (established in Awans, in the province of Liège) after disturbances that have arisen in recent days with customers, forced to respect strict rules access due to the pandemic.
“This weekend, the Grâce-Hollogne / Awans police zone checked the shops in the town. It found that measures were applied by the brand but that they were not respected by all customers. When checking at the entrance to the building, some people pretended not to know each other and then gathered on the shelves to make their purchases, ”explains the mayor.
As Sudpresse specifies, fights also broke out in the lines and the remarks made by the police officers were not heard: “Reminders of the law have been made and the manager of the store realizes the problem. A meeting is organized on Monday to find a solution allowing the store to welcome customers safely. We must raise awareness and educate the population to avoid an administrative closure of the establishment, ”warns Thibaud Smolders.
