Coronavirus in Wuhan: Hospital shortly before completion

F1400 medical personnel from the Chinese military have been deployed to the first of two new infirmaries in the metropolis of Wuhan, which is severely affected by the new lung disease.

The Huoshenshan emergency hospital, which was built in just a week in a fast construction, is scheduled to open on Monday and has a capacity of 1000 beds, as the official Chinese news agency Xinhua reported on Sunday.

The staff also included many who had worked at the Sars pandemic in a similar makeshift hospital in Xiaotangshan, Beijing, 17 years ago. There are also experts involved in the fight against Ebola in Sierra Leone and Liberia.

One day after their return from Wuhan to Germany, two people had tested positive for the corona virus on Sunday. The two patients were to be brought from the Südpfalz barracks in Germersheim, where they are in quarantine with more than 110 other returnees, to the Frankfurt University Hospital in an infection control vehicle, said the district of Germersheim. There is “no need to worry” for the volunteers and the population.
