Coronavirus: In which municipalities of Madrid are going to do massive tests

Some populations in the Community of Madrid study carrying out tests in a massive way among its inhabitants with the aim of knowing how many people have overcome the coronavirus. Torrejón de Ardoz has been the first municipality in the region chaired by Isabel Díaz Ayuso to implement this measure, Although it does not meet the criteria of the Ministry of Health, it does not recommend this practice.

The Community of Madrid established that the municipalities that want to carry out COVID-19 tests on their citizens must previously request authorization from the regional government, body that will subsequently collect the results obtained to include them in its Epidemiological Surveillance System.

Getafe has already made the request

Getafe, through its mayor, Sara Hernández, has been one of the towns that has formally requested to carry out massive tests in the Community of Madrid. Furthermore, other localities in the region have already shown interest in implementing a seroprevalence study such as the one carried out in Torrejón de Ardoz. It is the case of Fuenlabrada (193,000 inhabitants), San Sebastián de los Reyes (87,000), Alcorcón (169,000) or Pozuelo (86,000), which has already publicly shown its intention to acquire material to carry out the tests.

Likewise, Majadahonda (72,000 inhabitants) has had preliminary contacts with the regional government and is studying the possibility of carrying out massive tests, Although the city council of this municipality has not yet decided anything definitive in this regard.

Torrejón offered preliminary data

Torrejón de Ardoz (130,000 inhabitants) finished the tests for its serological study last Wednesday. 100,000 citizens of this municipality participated in the tests. Preliminary results have shown that between 18% and 22% of residents of this Madrid municipality have or have had coronaviruses.
