A nurse from Tennessee, in the United States, fainted after receiving the vaccine against covid-19. This is Tiffany Dover, nurse manager at Memorial Hospital, located in the city of Chattanooga.
Dover was being interviewed by the media after receiving her injection, when she suddenly began to feel dizzy. “Sorry, I’m getting dizzy. Sorry, ”he said as he clutched his head.

Then, he tried to walk away from the cameras, but before taking a couple of steps he passed out. A doctor grabbed her as she fell to the ground and, in a matter of seconds, several health workers arrived to help her.
The events were recorded in a video published by the American television channel ‘WTVC’,
When she recovered, Dover said the reaction is frequent in her. “I have a history of having an over-reactive vasovagal response, so if I have pain from something or if I stub my toe, I can pass out,” Dover told ‘WRCB’.
The nurse manager was one of the first healthcare workers at the Chattanooga hospital to receive the vaccine. The other doctors and nurses were vaccinated without incident.

Fainting after getting vaccinated
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) ensure that Fainting can occur after many types of vaccines are given, as a reaction to the vaccination process itself and not to what the vaccines contain.
About 3% of men and 3.5% of women have reported fainting at least once during their life after being vaccinated, the federal health agency said. Fainting does not usually have long-lasting effects.
Memorial Hospital Dr. Jesse Tucker told ‘WTVC’ that the Dover reaction “can happen very often” and is not from the vaccine itself.

Fainting can also occur when people are nervous about getting a vaccine, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.
The CDC added that people who pass out after receiving a vaccine often recover within minutes.
If a patient begins to experience symptoms of fainting, healthcare providers are advised to have them sit up or lie down, loosen tight clothing to aid breathing, and “apply cool, wet cloths to the patient’s face and neck,” according to the Immunization Action Coalition.
The CDC also recommends providing reassurance about the vaccination process, in addition to giving patients drinks and snacks to prevent fainting.
