Coronavirus in the UK – the country may impose strict quarantine

The publication got a document in which the authorities are warned of the consequences of the pandemic. It says that if the country does not implement strict measures to combat coronavirus by December 18, the health care system will not withstand mass hospitalizations of patients in hospitals.

Health Minister Sajid Javid received a report this week from the UK Health and Safety Agency (UKHSA), which says the number of coronavirus hospitalizations in the country could rise significantly.

“The rapid spread of Omicron means that measures to limit the pressure on the healthcare system may need to be taken before intuition dictates.Calculations show that even if Omicron causes less serious hospitalizations of 1% or 0.5% compared to 1.5% Delta, strict national measures will be required no later than December 18, “the document says.

The document warns that by December 19, the number of Omicron cases could reach 248,000 cases per day. These numbers are not projections, but an estimate of the prevalence of the new strain now in the UK.

Johnson this week launched “Plan B,” which includes a requirement for masks, calls to work from home, and COVID passports for large venues. Further measures will be called “Plan C” and may include stricter requirements for isolation of contact persons, the use of masks in pubs, the complete closure of reception areas, restrictions on visitors to nursing homes, hospitals, and more.
