CANADA: ON MARCH 11, THEY WILL CELEBRATE THE DAY TRIBUTE TO THE VICTIMS OF THE CORONAVIRUS
The Government of Canada has designated the March 11th What National Day of Respect to commemorate the people who lost their lives to COVID-19 and the effects of the pandemic. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a statement on Monday announcing this designation one year after “the first known death of a Canadian from the disease“.
“On this day, I invite all Canadians to join together in honoring the memory of those we have lost and the people they left behind. We will also recognize all who have been affected by COVID-19 and honor all those who continue working hard and making incredible sacrifices in our fight against the virus. Together we will defeat COVID-19, “the Canadian leader stressed in his statement.
The country has lamented “the tragic loss of more than 22,000 parents, siblings, friends and loved ones,” while 864,000 Canadians have been infected with the coronavirus, which, in turn, has had “an immeasurable impact on the way we all work and learn.”
“Our health care staff and other essential workers have put themselves at risk, working long hours, so that we can get the services and care we need. And as efforts continue to get vaccines to all Canadians as as quickly as possible, we thank you now more than ever, “continued Trudeau.
The Canadian Prime Minister has thus recalled that The entire society of the country has a “role to play in ending this pandemic as the crisis” is not over yet.
