Ecuador adds 403 new infections of COVID-19 and 32 deaths
Ecuador increased this Wednesday 403 new cases of COVID-19, With which it accumulated 502,146 positives during the pandemic, whose first record dates from February 29 of last year, the Ministry of Health reported in its daily epidemiological report. About the figure of confirmed deaths with COVID-19, in the report it was specified that this item went up in 32, until reaching 22,797, to which 9,499 “probable deaths” with the disease are added, to total 32,296 deaths.
On the situation in the provinces, the report specified that Pichincha, whose capital is Quito, accumulates the highest number of infections with 184,670 cases (183 more than Tuesday’s record), followed by Guayas, whose capital is Guayaquil, with 69,759 infections (36 additional). Then provinces appear like Manabi (33.298), Azuay (27.933), Gold (23.516), Store (18.076), Imbabura (17.179), Tungurahua (15.555), The rivers (13.049), Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas (12.114), Cotopaxi (12,042) and Esmeraldas (9,723), among the most affected.
Regarding the situation in the cantons or municipalities, the report specified that Quito is the city with the highest number of infections with 170,743, followed by Guayaquil with 48,094 cases. Then there are cities like Cuenca (21.454), Store (12.106), Machala (11.742), Ambato (11.500), Portoviejo (10.993), Santo Domingo (10.782) e Ibarra (8,936), among others.
