Argentina registers 10,180 new cases

The Latin American country has reported 10,180 new cases of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, bringing the total number of positives to a total of 5,029,075, while deaths rose to 107,961, after being notified 503 deaths from COVID in the last 24 hours.

The number of deaths shows a significant increase compared to the last few days, since it is the highest daily figure since last June 22, when there were 791 victims.

The figures reveal an increase of almost double the positives registered, when 6,141 cases were reported.

In the province of Buenos Aires 2,631 cases were recorded this Monday, in the central province of Córdoba 1,571 positives were found, in the province of Tucumán (north) they reported 822 and in the capital of the country they reported 601 cases.

The South American country determined a daily quota of Argentine travelers and residents who can enter the country, which from Saturday has been expanded to 1,700 per day, to delay the entry of the delta variant.

Last week the first infections of this variant without nexus with travelers from other countries have been reported.

So far 34.66 million doses have been applied in the country. A total of 26.08 million people received the first dose of the vaccine, while 8.5 million people were already inoculated with the second dose.

Argentina announced last week that it will begin combining vaccines from different laboratories, due to the delays in the arrival of doses of the second component of the Russian vaccine, which for now will be exchanged with those developed by Moderna and AstraZeneca.

The country has received 400,000 doses of Sputnik V Component 2 On a flight from Moscow, it is also expected that 500 liters of the antigen will arrive during the week for local production by Richmond Laboratories.
