Demonstrations against sanitary restrictions in Europe and Australia

Tens of thousands of people demonstrated yesterday in France, Italy and Australia against the new sanitary restrictions, which seek to accelerate vaccination against COVID-19 and stop the Delta variant, which they came to label as “totalitarian”.

With cries of “Freedom, freedom”, more than 160,000 people, at least 11,000 in Paris protested against the use of the health passport in numerous activities and the compulsory vaccination for various professions, such as medical personnel or waiters.

Nevertheless, the majority of the French (76%) are in favor of compulsory vaccination for healthcare personnel.

After the announcement of these restrictions in France, Italy followed the same example and from August 6 will require a health passport to access closed public spaces, available to those with full immunization or a recent negative test.

Thousands of Italians demonstrated on Saturday against this measure, in various towns from Naples to Turin, with cries of “Freedom” and “No to the dictatorship.”

How it happened in France, requests to get vaccinated multiplied in Italy, up to 200% in some regions, following the announcement of the extensive use of the health passport.

The protests against the health passport in Europe were accompanied by demonstrations against mobility restrictions in Australia, where five million people will live in confinement for a month.

In Sídeny there were clashes between some protesters and police on horseback, while in Melbourne thousands of people gathered in front of the regional parliament of the State of Victoria.
