Coronavirus in Poland. The latest data from the Ministry of Health (September 1)

On Tuesday (September 1), the Ministry of Health announced 550 new, confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection. At the same time, the ministry announced the death of 19 people due to COVID-19. The last time such a number of deaths was recorded on June 30. The total number of confirmed infections in Poland increased to 67,922, of which 2,058 people died and 47,030 people recovered.

New cases of SARS-Cov-2 infection concern the following provinces: Małopolskie – 136, Mazowieckie – 89, Śląskie – 53, Dolnośląskie – 35, Kujawsko-Pomorskie – 35, Pomorskie – 34, Łódzkie – 31, Wielkopolskie – 30, Podkarpackie – 26, Świętokrzyskie – 16, Opole – 14, Lublin – 13, Warmińsko-Mazurskie – 12, Podlaskie – 10, Lubuskie – 9 and Zachodniopomorskie – 7.

The Ministry of Health also announced the death of 19 people. This: 84-year-old man, 79-year-old woman and 51-year-old man in Radom, 86-year-old woman in Warsaw, 86-year-old man in Kędzierzyn-Koźle, 70-year-old man in Łódź, 89-year-old woman in Chorzów, 96-year-old woman and 89-year-old woman in Tychy, 91-year-old woman, 81-year-old man, 83-year-old man and 74-year-old woman in Racibórz, 97-year-old man in Łomża, 82-year-old man in Bolesławiec, 68-year-old man in Wrocław, a 63-year-old man in Chrzanów and an 87-year-old woman and 86-year-old man in Kraków.

“Most people had comorbidities,” the press release said.

In total, 67,922 cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection have been recorded in Poland since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,058 people have died and 47,030 people have recovered.

The first case of SARS-Cov-2 was reported on March 4. A clear increase in the number of infected people has been recorded in Poland since the beginning of August. This month the daily increase in new confirmed cases of COVID-19 does not fall below 500. So far, the record number of infected was recorded on August 21 – it was 903. Not much less – because 900 new infections were found a day later – on August 22.

The voivodeships most affected by COVID-19 are: Śląskie, Mazowieckie, Małopolskie, Wielopolskie and Łódzkie.

SARS-Cov-2 is a strain of coronavirus that causes acute respiratory distress syndrome and leads to severe pneumonia. The virus is spread very easily from person to person through droplets, sneezing, coughing and even talking.
