Mandatory quarantine, but not for everyone

The regulation also includes provisions related to mandatory quarantine. A ten-day quarantine awaits people crossing the external and internal borders of the EU by public transport, including by plane and by car as a means of public transport. Such a person is obliged to provide a Border Guard officer with: the address of residence or the place of stay where he will be subject to compulsory quarantine and a telephone number. The quarantine is counted from the day following the crossing of the border.

There are, however, exceptions. The following are exempt from the quarantine obligation: persons vaccinated against COVID-19 who have been issued a certificate; persons with a negative result of the diagnostic test for SARS-CoV-2 performed within 48 hours before the border crossing, counting from the result of this test; convalescents who completed isolation due to infection with SARS-CoV-2 virus, no later than 6 months before the date of crossing the border.

The obligation also does not apply in the case of crossing the border of the Republic of Poland as part of the performance of professional activities by, inter alia, the crew of the aircraft, seamen, professional drivers and by members of diplomatic missions.

As we read, the obligation of 10-day quarantine also applies to persons crossing the land section of the border of the Republic of Poland with the Czech Republic and with the Slovak Republic, “regardless of the means of transport they travel, or on foot, in order to go to their place of residence or stay in the territory Polish Republic”. It has been added that people traveling to Poland for a purpose other than the above must have a negative result of the SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic test performed within 48 hours before crossing the border. Such a result, in Polish or in English, should be submitted at the request of a Border Guard or Police officer.

As in the case of other destinations, there are also exceptions here for people who have been tested within 48 hours of crossing the border, vaccinated and convicted. Exempt from quarantine include, inter alia, frontier workers and children studying on the other side of the border and their guardians.

As we read in the document, the movement of passengers in rail transport performed with the crossing of the external border of the EU is suspended.

Also, be aware that it is still obligatory to cover the mouth and nose with a mask in public places.

It also applies throughout the country a ban on the operation of stationary restaurants. You can only provide take-away and delivery services.

Moreover, the distance between meetings must not be less than 100 m. A maximum of 5 people may participate in events and meetings organized at home – this limit does not include a person inviting to the party and people who live or manage with that person together, “we read in the information posted on government websites.
