He added that the penalties will be several times higher than at present.

The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday 548 new, confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection and the death of ten people. Within four days – Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday – the ministry reported a total of 2,478 infections. In total, in Poland, since the beginning of the pandemic, infection has been confirmed in 46 894 people, of whom 1731 have died.

The guest of “One for One” on TVN24 was the government spokesman, Piotr Mueller. – At the moment, we are preparing a package of legislative changes in order to make several adjustments to individual regulations, perhaps to acts, which enable regionalization of restrictions on many levels – he informed.

– On the one hand, the regionalization of restrictions, i.e. the number of people staying in the restaurant, and individual sanctions in this regard, but also, for example, the regionalization of the functioning of schools, because this is a variant that is taken into account and we must have legal grounds for to actually adopt such a variant – he explained.

– When there are no illnesses above a certain level in a given poviat, the school functions normally, if this level increases, then the functioning of the school is limited – he added.

Mueller was also asked what this regionalization of restrictions would look like. – At the moment we have a session of the Sejm scheduled for this week. At the moment, there are the last analyzes, therefore, if there is such a need, then the correction will be made in the form of an act, but perhaps changes in the regulation will suffice – he said.

– First, we want to take a step related to entrepreneurs, because many of them do not follow the sanitary recommendations announced by the Chief Sanitary Inspector, for example with regard to the distance between tables in restaurants or in workplaces. Therefore, we actually anticipate that the sanctions in this regard may be increased. We will enforce more, there will be more people who will verify whether these regulations are complied with, said the government spokesman.

– We are talking about a general increase in sanctions for entities such as entrepreneurs, restaurateurs or someone who conducts mass events that should not be conducted. In fact, we are considering increasing financial sanctions for breaking such rules, he emphasized.

Penalties several times higher
When asked at what level these sanctions will be, he replied: – Several times what is at the moment, due to the fact that we see that many entities do not comply with these sanctions.
