The Ministry of Health (Minsa) begins today, Friday, October 15, the application of the booster dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 for the country’s health personnel, with the aim of containing the possible arrival of a third wave pandemic.
The holder of Health, Hernando Cevallos, will supervise the application of the booster dose to the front-line personnel of the Arzobispo Loayza National Hospital, where it is planned to inoculate approximately 330 workers on this first day.
The staff of the Emergency areas and intensive care units, emergency general and administrative services and ICU, first-level posts and centers, hospitalization and outpatient clinics of hospitals will be the first to receive this third dose, which will allow the reduction of the mortality from new variants of the COVID-19.
The third dose will be applied after six months have elapsed after receiving the second dose and these will be scheduled according to the availability of vaccines.
There will be 500,000 workers in the health sector who will receive the dose in the first stage, and then continue with adults over 69 years of age and people with comorbidities, a weakened immune system, among others, reported the Minsa.

In the same way, EsSalud announced that more than 15,000 doctors and health personnel who work in the institution nationwide will receive from Friday, October 15, a third dose of the vaccine against COVID-19.
The executive president of the institution, Mario CarhuapomaHe explained that the first group will be made up of health care personnel who carry out face-to-face work; It will start in the covid-19 areas, emergencies and intensive care units. (AFP)
