Navarra opens from this Wednesday the citation for additional dose against COVID-19 to the group of people between 40 and 49 years old, who will progressively receive, over the next few days, an SMS message to formalize the appointment. The start of the administration of vaccines to this group is scheduled for next week, starting next Monday, January 10.
The latest report from the Institute of Public and Labor Health of Navarra, corresponding to the week of December 27, 2021 to January 2, 2022, confirms the importance of vaccination and the third dose to prevent the most serious forms of the disease , hospitalizations and deaths.
However, he insists on the need to complement vaccination with other preventive measures, as the face mask and physical interpersonal distance, to face the high incidence of COVID-19 in Navarra, which increased by 107% over the previous week, reaching 25,258 detected cases, which represents 3.8% of the Navarrese population.
Figures that have a decisive influence, he has indicated, the rapid expansion of the omicron variant, detected in 86% of cases in representative random samples carried out in the last seven days by the Microbiology laboratory of the University Hospital of Navarra (THEIR).
According to the Public Health report, the incidence has been especially important among young people between 15 and 34 years old, with 6.2% of this group affected by infections. Among those aged 35 to 54 years, the affectation is 4.5%. And the lowest figure (1.6%) is that of the group of the elderly in those over 75 years of age, which is practically covered by the additional dose of the vaccine, since the figure has already been exceeded in those over 70 years of age. 95% of this group.
