A curfew was introduced in Lombardy as the first region of Italy on Thursday to curb coronavirus infections. From 23 to 5 can move around only for reasons justified by work, health and other urgent needs.

A curfew was introduced on a day when over 4,100 new cases of infection were reported in Lombardy, the worst hit since its start in February.

Under the regulation of the regional authorities, in force until November 13, the so-called self-certificates, in which, in the event of an inspection, you must explain the reason for moving during curfew.

From Monday, upper secondary schools, i.e. high schools and technical schools, switch to remote mode.

Bars, restaurants, ice cream parlors, patisseries, pizzerias and all other eateries may be open from 5.00 am to 11.00 pm. Where there are no tables – according to a national government decree – food may be sold until 6.00 pm. open public space.

Between 6 p.m. and 5 p.m., the automatic drink and food dispensers will be closed. Vending machines with milk and its derivatives and with water were excluded from this ban.

A few hours before the curfew came into effect, restaurateurs, bar owners, nightclubs and their suppliers were protesting in front of the region’s headquarters in Milan against an order to close them at 11pm. .

“For us, the curfew is a new lockdown,” industry representatives emphasized.

On Friday, the curfew will take effect in the capital region of Lazio and in Campania.
