The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Germany has increased by 18,681 to 499,694 over the past 24 hours, according to data published on Friday (October 30) by the Berlin Institute of Robert Koch (RKI). Another 77 people from COVID-19 have died. Thus, since the outbreak of the pandemic, the death toll in the country has increased to 10,349.

The highest daily increase in infections since the outbreak of the epidemic was recorded in Germany on Friday. On Thursday (October 29), over 16,000 infections, and on Wednesday (October 28) by almost 15 thousand.
About 6.5 thousand of those infected have recovered, which means that the total number of people who survived the infection has risen to around 345,700 in the country, reports the RKI.
In turn, the latest list of the American Johns Hopkins University shows that since the outbreak of the epidemic in Germany, 506,381 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection have been reported, and 10,333 people have died from COVID-19. Overall, more than 45 million infections and more than 1.18 million deaths have been diagnosed in the world since the beginning of the pandemic.
The German government and federal state authorities agreed on Wednesday to tighten restrictions on public life from next week in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. – We are in a dramatic situation – commented Chancellor Angela Merkel in the Bundestag the next day.
According to the arrangements, members of only two households, maximum 10 people, will be able to stay together in public places. Restaurants, bars, clubs, discos and pubs are to be closed from November 2 until the end of November. The canteens will still be open.
Schools and kindergartens will remain open despite the surge in coronavirus infections. The stores should also remain open, but there must not be more than one customer per 10 square meters.
