The number of coronavirus infections in France has exceeded one million. The country’s health ministry reported on Friday a record daily increase in infections of 42,032 cases. Another 298 people died. President Emmanuel Macron, who paid a surprise visit to a hospital in Pontoise near Paris, said “we must live with the coronavirus for at least summer.”

On Thursday, the ministry informed about 41,622 new infections. In total, 1,041,075 people have been infected with the coronavirus in France since the start of the pandemic. There are 34,508 deaths.
France is the seventh country with over one million infections. Previously, this limit was exceeded in the USA (now 8.4 million), India (7.8 million), Brazil (5.3 million), Russia (1.5 million), Argentina (less than 1.1 million) and Spain ( nearly 1.1 million).
There are 15,008 people in hospitals due to COVID-19, 76 more than the day before. There are 2,441 patients in intensive care units.
French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday, during a visit to a hospital in Pontoise near Paris, said that you will have to live with the coronavirus until next summer. He added that he did not intend to limit the curfew, which applies in most of the country, or even extend it.
