Coronavirus in Belgium: how do Belgians experience containment? (survey)

A study by UCLouvain and the University of Antwerp reveals that one Belgian in two suffers from confinement. And it is especially young people who find it increasingly difficult to bear it.

Not easy to feel trapped, always more cramped, without knowing when it will end. Before the crisis, 18% of the population felt bad psychologically. Since the start of confinement, this feeling has affected one in two Belgians. Among people with a loved one who has coronavirus, it rises to 67%, and to 73% among respondents who are themselves sick.

This confinement especially saddens adolescents: 2 out of 3 young Belgians experience this situation badly according to a survey among 15-25 year olds. This rate is inversely proportional to the age of the respondents: only one third of those over 65 say they are affected by this confinement.

The more habits are turned upside down, the greater the risk of discomfort. Among those who have had to restrict physical activity, the risk of slackening increases by 20%.
