Stuttgart – After the vaccine from Biontech, the Moderna vaccine is now also being rationed by the federal government, according to the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Health, or in some cases it can no longer be ordered. “On the one hand, we cannot ramp up the vaccination offensive and at the same time the vaccine is rationed,” said a spokesman for the authorities in Stuttgart on Friday.

Health Minister Manne Lucha (Greens) contacted the Executive Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) at the beginning of the week to get an additional delivery from Moderna at short notice. “We are now expecting a special delivery of 120,000 cans of Moderna today,” said the spokesman for the authorities.

A doctor’s practice currently only receives 30 doses of Biontech per week

According to the Ministry of Health, a doctor’s practice currently only receives 30 doses of Biontech per week, while vaccination centers can only order 1,020 doses per week. “A vaccination center usually vaccinates this amount per day.”

The country’s vaccination offensive is in full swing. “And we don’t have as much vaccine now as we’d like to inoculate to meet the high demand. By the end of the year we need at least 3.5 million doses of mRNA vaccines in order to be able to adequately supply the people in Baden-Württemberg, ”said the spokesman for the Ministry of Health.
