Coronavirus in Argentina: 98 dead and record of 5,782 cases – News story

Another 98 people died and a peak of 5,782 infected with coronaviruses was registered in the last 24 hours in Argentina, bringing the total to 2,588 deaths and 141,900 to those infected since the start of the pandemic, the Ministry of Health reported today.

The healthcare portfolio indicated that 902 are hospitalized in intensive care units, with a 55% occupancy rate for adult beds in the country and 64.3% in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA) area.

89.78% (5,191 people) of today’s infected (5,782) correspond to the City and the province of Buenos Aires.

Of the 141,900 positive cases, 42.65% (60,531) were discharged.

The evening report stated that 46 men died, 27 residents in the province of Buenos Aires; 18 in the City of Buenos Aires; 1 in the province of Chaco; and 36 women; 16 residents in the province of Buenos Aires; 17 in the City of Buenos Aires; 2 in the province of Chaco and 1 resident in the province of Mendoza.

The morning report specified that 10 men died, 7 residents in the province of Buenos Aires; 3 in the City of Buenos Aires (CABA); and 6 women; 2 residents in the province of Buenos Aires and 4 in the City of Buenos Aires.

Of the total of infected, 1,096 (0.8%) are imported, 43,748 (30.8%) are close contacts of confirmed cases, 72,527 (51.1%) are cases of community circulation and the rest are under epidemiological investigation.

Today 3,801 cases were registered in the province of Buenos Aires; in the City of Buenos Aires, 1,390; in Catamarca, 1; Chaco, 73; Córdoba, 87; in Entre Ríos, 24; in Formosa, 1; in Jujuy, 155; in La Rioja, 10, in Mendoza, 56; in Neuquén, 26; in Río Negro, 57; in Salta, 19; in San Juan, 1; in San Luis, 2; in Santa Cruz, 17; in Santa Fe, 49, Santiago del Estero, 1; Tierra del Fuego, 10; and Tucumán, 2.

Meanwhile, there were no cases in Chubut, Corrientes, La Pampa and Misiones.

The total accumulated by district indicates that the province of Buenos Aires added 80,618 cases; the City of Buenos Aires, 49,549; Catamarca, 61; Chaco, 3,104; Chubut, 253; Córdoba, 1,464; Currents, 130; Entre Ríos, 680; Formosa, 76; Jujuy, 1,039; and La Pampa, 8.

La Rioja reached 196 cases; Mendoza, 622; Misiones, 41; Neuquén, 958; Río Negro, 1,432; Salta, 196; San Juan, 17; San Luis, 17; Santa Cruz, 239; Santa Fe, 802; Santiago del Estero, 39; Tierra del Fuego, 258, and Tucumán, 101.

The Ministry specified that a case from Chubut was reclassified to the City of Buenos Aires.

In addition, 13 cases in the Falkland Islands were included in Tierra del Fuego, according to press information, because due to the illegal occupation of the United Kingdom, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, it is not possible to have their own information on the impact of Covid- 19 in that part of the Argentine territory.
