“The priority is the schools, not the stadiums.” Health Minister Roberto Speranza, interviewed on Tg3 on the coronavirus emergency, is clear and calm. “I disagree,” said the minister, on the 25% capacity in stadiums. «I think we have to focus our energies on essential things, we cannot afford improper risks, at the moment the priority is school. The school has now reopened throughout Italy, we are still monitoring to understand what the relative consequences are. A few days, a few weeks must pass and we must understand well what is the reaction on the epidemiological level of the opening of the schools ”, explained Roberto Speranza. And on a hypothesis of a slightly lower threshold of 25%, Speranza replied: «This will be evaluated by our scientists tomorrow. I am also a big football fan but at the moment Italy’s priority must be the schools, it cannot be the stadiums, I say this with the utmost respect also because there are people who work around the stadiums, so nothing can be underrated. But right now we cannot afford to be light-hearted, we have an advantage that we must keep. The virus is circulating, let’s not make mistakes ».

Covid diagnosed cases increase

The report from the Ministry of Health and the Higher Institute of Health of the week 14-20 September reports that ten Regions and autonomous provinces have had an increase in the number of diagnosed cases of Coronavirus compared to the previous week. An increase, they explain, which cannot be attributed solely to an increase in imported cases (from a foreign state and / or from another Region) or an increase in screening activity. We observe “a slow and progressive worsening of the epidemic for eight weeks which is reflected in a greater burden on health services”, underlines the report. A trend that reflects a trend common to many European countries, which “in Italy is for the moment more contained”. However, we must not underestimate “the risk of a rapid epidemic recovery due to an excessive relaxation of the measures, with the authorization of events and initiatives at risk of aggregation in public places, and of individual behaviors also linked to moments of impromptu aggregation”.

Rezza: outbreaks in the family

“We must record an increase in the number of Covid cases in our country for the eighth consecutive week, even if the Rt index is around 1. There have been several outbreaks throughout the country and most of these are due to intra-family transition or familiar. Fortunately, this week, the median age has remained stable at 41 years and this explains why the increase in hospitalizations is very very slow, ”commented the director general of prevention of the Ministry of Health Gianni Rezza. “The situation in the countries close to Italy is quite worrying – Rezza recalled – and it is therefore necessary to always maintain prudent behavior, avoiding gatherings, behave in physical distancing, use of masks and frequent hand washing”.

National Rt at 0.95, 10 regions and 2 autonomous provinces above 1

In the week examined there were 10 regions and 2 autonomous provinces with Rt above 1: Abruzzo, Calabria, Campania, FV Giulia, Liguria, Molise, Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Autonomous Province of Trento, Puglia, Sicily, Umbria and Veneto. Here are all the data: Abruzzo 1.1, Basilicata 0.73, Calabria 1.13, Campania 1.1, Emilia Romagna 0.78, Friuli Venezia Giulia 1.11, Lazio 0.85, Liguria 1.31, Lombardy 0.75, Marche 0.99, Molise 1.04, autonomous province of Bolzano 1.28, Piedmont 0.96, autonomous province of Trento 1.24, Puglia 1.06, Sardinia 0.77, Sicily 1.2, Tuscany 0.93, Umbria 1.06, Valle d’Aosta 0.59, Veneto 1.01. The national RT calculated on symptomatic cases is equal to 0.95, below 1 in its mean value for the second consecutive week. The ISS, however, explains that it is necessary to interpret “with caution the national transmission rate at this particular moment of the epidemic”. In fact, Rt calculated on symptomatic cases, while remaining the most reliable indicator at regional level and comparable over time for monitoring transmissibility, “could slightly underestimate the real transmission of the virus at national level”. As for age, while in the last three weeks there was an increase in the median age of notified cases, this week it is stable at 41 years.

The outbreaks are increasing: there are 2868, 832 new

Outbreaks on the rise: a total of 2,868 active outbreaks, of which 832 are new, both increasing for the eighth consecutive week. In the previous week of monitoring, 2,397 active outbreaks had been reported, of which 698 were new. There are outbreaks in almost all the provinces, in 102 out of 107. “Despite the high number of active outbreaks, 28.7% of new cases are not associated with known transmission chains”, explains the ISS. Most outbreaks continue to occur in the home / family setting (76.1% of all active outbreaks), with a slight increase in leisure-related (6.3%) and work-related outbreaks (5.6%). %).
