Coronavirus: here is the digital displacement certificate, available on smartphones

While confinement continues in France, the rules are always the same: ban on going out without a travel certificate. However, since Monday, April 6, the latter can now be presented on a smartphone in case of control.

“The French have appropriated the rules of containment, it is therefore necessary to give them a little flexibility with this tool”, explained Christophe Castaner to Parisian. The mobile certificate had initially been accepted, then the Interior Ministry had changed its mind, faced with a multiplication of sites offering to generate the document, making it fearful of excessive data collection.

The digital certificate accepted from this Monday must be generated from the Home Office website and nowhere else, said Christophe Castaner. To get it, just fill out a form. As with the paper device, which remains valid, its name and address must be indicated, as well as the reason for exit, the date and the time.

After validation, a PDF file is created, with this information and a QR code, which includes the date and time of writing the certificate. In case of control, the police will be able to scan this code without having to touch the phone. No personal data is collected, the government assured.

Since Friday 3 April, the start of school holidays in zone C, which brings together the Ile-de-France and Occitanie academies, controls have been tightened to limit unauthorized travel and thus limit the spread of coronavirus . Over 160,000 police and gendarmes are mobilized. And nearly 1.4 million checks have been carried out over the past three days, said Christophe Castaner.
