Coronavirus has stopped the production of known potato chips, the company is fighting for survival

Potatoes are made here by hand, and also from quality potatoes from surrounding growers. Their assortment is also complemented by honey from the Jeseníky Mountains and the sale of Báťek’s herbal syrups.

“There was no other option due to the set measures and significant restrictions, we are fighting for survival. Half of our customers are from stores that are open. But even there, sales went down. However, we delivered the other half to restaurants, pubs or we went to sell at various farmers’ markets and events. And that is no longer possible now, “Pavel Hradil, owner of the Farmer’s Potato / E-VITAE fruit and vegetables company, explained to Práva.

The family business does not give up the fight

He added that together with his wife Alenka, who is the second owner of the company, and their four employees, they are not giving up their fight. “We went back to what happened in the spring during the lockdown. We were in a similar situation then. It was not sold, we had a large amount of potatoes from local growers in stock and we had more ordered. And so we started selling potatoes through our e-shop www.farmarske.cz and delivering. And because it caught on then, we do it again, “said the businessman, who has been building the company for four years.

They expand the range and scope

The company has now also added the sale of homemade eggs and garlic to its e-shop. “We are trying to expand our segment so that we do not just stay with those chips where it is not possible now. And we take home-grown vegetables and eggs to people’s homes. We deliver mainly in the districts of Ostrava, Karviná and Frýdek-Místek, but we also travel to the Opava and Krnov regions. But less so, “Hradil described.

The next step now, according to him, is that they want to expand the scope of their company. So far, they have specialized only in the Moravian-Silesian region. “We are now trying to expand our education in terms of internet marketing and we would like to offer our potato chips throughout the Czech Republic,” summed up the owner of the potato chip company.
