From February 24 to 27, the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) exhibition will be held in Barcelona, at which several dozens of companies from around the world will show their new smartphones, computers and other gadgets. Amid news of the coronavirus, manufacturers began to worry that crowding of thousands of people from around the world could lead to dangerous consequences.

Representatives of the MWC exhibition said that preparations for the event were going according to plan, and additional measures would be taken to protect visitors from the possible spread of the virus. For example, they promise to improve the level of cleaning and disinfection of all rooms of crowded places – stands, walkways, toilets and many other places.

As an additional measure, visitors will be offered personal disinfection products. And on the territory of the exhibition there will be additional medical care.

Despite additional protection from the organizers, LG completely refused from visiting the MWC 2020 exhibition. Because of this, the company canceled the business trips of several hundred employees. Representatives of the Korean company said they were worried about the safety of their workers and other visitors to the exhibition.

LG plans to hold a separate event after MWC 2020 to introduce new devices. Most likely, we are talking about the presentation of the smartphone LG V60.

ZTE was the first to respond to the development of coronavirus and canceled a press conference for MWC 2020, which was supposed to show its new products. But company representatives will still appear at the exhibition. About this ZTE told edition of The Verge.

In part, the ZTE event was canceled due to the fact that many employees do not have time to draw up documents. Visa centers and other authorities in China have stepped up their efforts to verify people, so the process takes longer than before.

At the time of publication of the material, 492 people died from coronavirus and about 24 thousand people are considered infected. 99% of the victims are in China, but no one knows how the situation will change by the end of February, when the exhibition in Barcelona begins.
