Foreign exchange markets face a global health threat. It leads to a de-globalization, following the plunges of activity and trade in the coronavirus crisis. In March, “Currency volatility has tripled in almost three weeks, its fastest rate of increase. In terms of level, it remains below the levels reached during the crises of 1998 and 2008. The volatility of emerging currencies and that of the G10 countries have become similar ”, notes Olivier Korber, strategist at Société Générale.
