Altona is Hamburg’s Corona stronghold

The Altona district is the stronghold of corona infections in Hamburg. At the weekend, 60.1 infected people per 100,000 inhabitants were reported there. Entry from Egypt without controls

According to the health authority, Egypt has only recently been declared a risk area. Therefore, there is still no federal regulation on the regulations on entry, the so-called NOTAM. Passengers from repatriations from the North African country have therefore recently arrived at Hamburg Airport without filling out drop-out cards. Passengers from high-risk areas usually have to enter personal, past and future stays and seats on the flight in these.

This information should be used to track possible infection chains in the event of infections and to isolate those affected. It is hoped that the relevant federal ordinance will soon be issued so that drop-out cards are filled out by all travelers from Egypt, a spokesman for the health authority said.

Corona: Hamburg fitness studios fear for existence

Because gyms in Hamburg have to remain temporarily closed, operators and fitness trainers come up with new formats and alternative training offers. The “Sportsclub Bergedorf”, for example, uses Facebook live videos to broadcast free workouts in the living rooms of its members via Facebook livestream.

“We want to motivate our members to stay fit and positive in this difficult time,” said Alexander Sosa, managing director of a total of seven clubs in the region. Sosa also hopes for solidarity among club members in an “extremely difficult time”. “If possible, support your local gyms so that they can continue to exist after this phase,” said the businessman.

Do students save asparagus and strawberries?

Because of the travel restrictions, the state government, farmers’ association and employment agency have launched a campaign to help with the harvest. The Ministry of Agriculture announced on Monday that thousands of harvest workers were missing in the coming weeks. The appeal is aimed at employees from retail and gastronomy who are currently unable to work due to closed shops, as well as short-time employees and students.

The state government approved a key paper on Monday to support agriculture. “Together we have to ensure that the operational processes work and the security of supply with local food is guaranteed,” said Agriculture Minister Jan Philipp Albrecht (Greens).

According to farmers’ association president Werner Schwarz, many farms will soon have their first harvest work. “We want to continue to provide the population with high-quality and healthy food such as asparagus, cabbage or strawberries and prevent crops from remaining in the field and spoiling or vegetables from being planted in the first place.” The farmers urgently needed support for this.

The companies need help with asparagus from the beginning of April. There are currently around 200 seasonal foreign workers in the north, but an additional 1200 workers would be needed in this sector alone. There is also a need for 4,000 seasonal workers in strawberry cultivation.

Coronavirus: 102 new infections in Hamburg

The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Hamburg has continued to increase. As the Senate announced on Monday afternoon, a further 102 cases of illness with Covid-19 were confirmed. This means that the number of people infected has risen to 989. It appears that the measures taken by the Senate are beginning to take effect. Because the number of infected people rose by 11.5 percent – and thus significantly less than when the increase was always around 30 percent. On the previous day, 119 new cases had been infected more than on Monday. Nevertheless, according to the Senate, it is a “significant increase”.

This “continues to be caused by a high proportion of those returning from vacation and by people who have had contact with the sick people,” the statement said. As before, the course of the disease was usually accompanied by mild to moderate flu-like symptoms. According to the current status, 55 Hamburgers are currently in inpatient treatment for the illness with COVID-19, of which 14 people receive intensive medical care.

Contact ban: Hamburgers are disciplined

After the ban on contacts came into force, police spokesman Holger Vehren drew a positive first conclusion. “The vast majority of the population complies with the requirements,” he said. Only in individual cases have violations of the ban on contacts been registered. The general directives, which had already come into force beforehand, are now being followed almost continuously.

According to Abendblatt information, the police recorded little or no unauthorized groups of three or more people in a so-called situation report on Monday afternoon at the Elbe beach, Alsterufer, near the main train station and in the city park. According to the officials’ feedback, there were mostly only joggers traveling alone or in pairs.

Corona virus: This is how you can protect yourself against infection

  • It is best to sneeze or cough in a disposable handkerchief, which you then throw away. If neither is within reach, hold the crook of your arm in front of your mouth and nose. Then: wash your hands
  • Wash your hands regularly with soap
  • Do not touch the face with your hands because the pathogens of the coronavirus can enter the body through the mucous membranes of the mouth, nose or eyes and cause an infection
  • Keep one to two meters away from people who show symptoms of infection
  • Protective masks and disinfectants are superfluous – they can even lead to negligence in more important areas

Hamburg’s finance industry agrees on close cooperation

The city and the financial sector have agreed to cooperate to implement the aid measures for Hamburg companies in need during the Corona crisis. Together they want to help Hamburg get through the crisis as well as possible, according to a statement published on Monday by Hamburger Sparkasse, Hamburger Volksbank, Investitions- und Förderbank, the Bankenverband Hamburg, Finanzplatz Hamburg and the tax authority. “In close cooperation between the federal government, the state and the financial sector, we make it clear that together we will not abandon the many self-employed, the many companies of all industries and sizes in this difficult situation!”

In this way, the respective support measures of the federal and state governments are to be well coordinated and one-stop service is to be provided by transferring loans. In the current emergency situation, the respective requirements for the financial industry would also have to be taken into account, “in order to be able to help the bank as unbureaucratically as we all want it to be.”

All affected companies should check and use the offers of help, said Finance Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD). “However, close cooperation with the financial sector is a key prerequisite for the implementation of the many emerging aid measures from the federal and state governments.” The banks are crucial. “It is a very good sign that all major players from the Hamburg financial world have committed themselves to this rapprochement today.”

Corona Crisis: How Daily News and Daily Issues Work

Because of the corona crisis, Germany’s news tanker ARD-aktuell (Tagesschau and Tagesthemen) also sent around half of its employees to its home office in Hamburg-Lokstedt. Outdoor television and radio reporters have put plastic protection on their microphones. At the same time, as in many companies, there are considerable restrictions on the direct contact between employees.

Marcus Bornheim, first editor-in-chief, told the Abendblatt: “In order not to endanger the work of ARD at the moment, we share the teams. As an example: Our early shift and our late shift may no longer be in the newsroom at the same time. But the freedom of movement in the break rooms is also restricted: only four employees can be in this room at the same time. “

“Classic linear television” is more difficult to do in the home office than, for example, the website tagesschau.de. “You always need a team in the newsroom and a speaker in front of the camera. The daily topics were set up very intelligently: Many editing tasks are done at home, two bosses from duty are here to handle the broadcasting, and the moderators are separate from the editors. ”

As Bornheim said, the editor-in-chief also split up into office and home work. Apart from the news business, his most important task at the moment is to “organize the protection of employees”.

Lufthansa Technik expects a drop in sales

After record growth last year, Lufthansa Technik AG expects a drop in sales due to the corona crisis. “The full extent will only hit us with a delay, so that a forecast is currently impossible, but the first effects are already noticeably noticeable,” said CEO Johannes Bußmann on Monday in Hamburg. Everything depends on the duration of the crisis and how the airlines recovered from it. “We have prepared ourselves with a very comprehensive package of measures – also to be able to deliver at any time,” emphasized Bußmann.

“In the past year we have continued on our growth path very successfully: Over 5000 aircraft managed by more than 850 customers speak for themselves,” said Bußmann. “Due to the international nature of our company, we believe that we can cope with the effects of the crisis.” With its 35 subsidiaries and associated companies and more than 26,000 employees worldwide, the Lufthansa Technik Group is one of the world’s leading providers of aircraft technology services.

Beiersdorf donates 6000 liters of disinfectant

The Beiersdorf company has lunch on Monday the first 6000 liters of a disinfectant donation to the fire brigade Hamburg and the university hospital Eppendorf (UKE). to hand over. “For us, this is practical and direct neighborhood help,” said Frank Labahn. The plant manager of Beiersdorf Manufacturing Hamburg (BMH), whose team had quickly started up production at Troplowitzstrasse, said: “Our team at the BMH is very happy to be able to produce the hand disinfectants that are so urgently needed and thus to make a small contribution in this difficult time. “And he thanks the authorities involved” that we received the necessary permits within a few days. ”

Beiersdorf AG announced last week that it would support the fight against the coronavirus pandemic with the production of medical disinfectants. The first 500 tons will be made available to central public institutions and emergency services as a donation. Now that the fire brigade and the UKE have received a part, the further distribution of the donations will be decided in close coordination with the responsible local authorities and crisis teams.

Helm-AG sends almost all employees to the home office

The Hamburg chemical retailer Helm AG has sent almost all of the employees at its Hamburg headquarters to the home office. “Out of around 650 employees, only 25 to 30 are still on site,” CEO Hans-Christian Sievers told the Abendblatt on Monday. Short-time working is not planned, there is currently enough to be done, Sievers continues.

His appeal to the employees is as emotional as it is clear: “No question, we will survive it!” The company is financially sound and has reserves. Particularly bitter for Sievers himself: If he hands over the chairmanship of the board to Stephan Schnabel on April 1, he cannot say goodbye to the employees personally, but only from the home office by email or video.

Second corona case in refugee accommodation in Neumünster

There is a second case of Covid-19 in the state accommodation for refugees in Neumünster. The young man was brought to the medical center in the initial reception facility on Saturday immediately after his admission, a spokesman for the state accommodation office said on Monday to the German press agency. The man is housed in the isolation house and shows a mild course of the disease.

Inpatient treatment is currently not necessary. The suspicion was confirmed on Sunday evening. A first Covid-19 case in the state accommodation had occurred a week ago. According to the spokesman, the operation in the state accommodation continues as normal. Incidentally, the number of newly arrived refugees has decreased since the external borders of the EU were sealed off.

15 branches of the Hamburger Volksbank remain open

Hamburg The Hamburger Volksbank has also reacted to the corona crisis and has now closed 17 of its 32 branches. However, 15 locations remain open: Altona, Bergedorf, Blankenese, Eimsbüttel, Geesthacht, Hamburg-City, Harburg, Langenhorn, Neugraben. Niendorf, Othmarschen Rahlstedt, Sasel, Wandsbek and Wedel.

The opening times at the locations that continue to operate have not been changed so far. Of course, the currently important clearance and hygiene rules apply in the branches.

According to Brüggestrat, the Volksbank is still easy to reach by phone. Employees would sit in the closed branches and take over the telephone service. There is also a central number (040-3091-00) through which customers can get rid of their concerns. Brüggestrat asks customers to use online banking anyway. There are many questions from business customers about the aid programs of the city of Hamburg and the federal government. More information about the packages of measures, but also about the contact options to the bank can be found at www.hamburger-volksbank.de.

New regulation for second homes in Schleswig-Holstein in preparation

After several districts in Schleswig-Holstein asked holiday home owners at the weekend to leave the country immediately, this topic could already be revised today. According to Abendblatt information, Schleswig-Holstein is working on a new, uniform regulation for dealing with owners of holiday homes.

The background is, among other things, that one does not want to drive a wedge between the Schleswig-Holsteiners and the Hamburgers, who would have to stand together in the Corona crisis. A new regulation is expected in the early evening.

Students start petition to cancel high school exams

In view of the corona pandemic, two Hamburg students have started a petition to cancel the Abitur exams nationwide. Instead, this year, every student in Germany should receive a so-called average high school diploma, the petition addressed to Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), Hamburg Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) and numerous education ministers from the federal states.

An average of the 32 to 40 semester results of the past four half-years to be contributed should be calculated and specified as a graduation grade. The petition published on the “change.org” internet portal had signed a good 18,000 supporters by Monday noon. From the point of view of the two Hamburg students, the Abitur exams for the approximately 350,000 students affected this year are unsustainable in terms of health, psychology and society.

Coronavirus: patients die in the district of Plön and in Wolfsburg

There was one death in the district of Plön and one in Wolfsburg in connection with the novel corona virus. The 70-year-old sufferer from Plön belonged to the high-risk group due to his advanced age and previous illnesses, the district administration said on Monday. Accordingly, the man suffering from Covid-19 died on the weekend. It is the second death related to lung disease in the northernmost state.

According to the district administration, the suspected route of infection of the person from the Plön district is known to the authorities. All necessary measures for establishing contacts and for domestic quarantine have been taken.

Hamburg AWO initiates telephone sponsorship

In order to counteract the possible loneliness of older people in the time of Corona, the Hamburg Association of Workers’ Welfare (AWO) has now launched a telephone sponsorship project. “After the senior meetings closed, we switched to telephone communication to keep in touch with people,” said AWO employee Catherine le Mellec. Since then she has had telephone contact with around 20 people, whom she now speaks regularly. “It quickly became clear that the calls were very well received and good for the elderly.”

The AWO now wants to offer this idea of telephone sponsorship to all senior citizens in Hamburg. As of now, the existing free hotline of the AWO Foundation will have a new function. On 0800-2843628, from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., isolated senior citizens who need to speak to the employees of the “Aktion Augen auf!” “Under the“ Together in times of Corona ”campaign, you can also volunteer on the AWO Hamburg website www.awo-hamburg.de to register.

Asklepios buys additional ventilators

The Asklepios Kliniken Group, which is active at around 160 locations nationwide, has purchased additional ventilation equipment and monitoring equipment along with other equipment for their acute care clinics. Asklepios can thus provide 500 additional intensive care and ventilation beds. The Asklepios clinics currently have around 800 ventilation beds across Germany, including around 300 in Hamburg, where the clinic group operates seven large hospitals providing maximum care.

The devices will be delivered to the clinics from the next week depending on the need and approval of the relevant funding by the state governments. All new seats will be ready for use by the end of May. The investment volume for procurement amounts to more than 37 million euros. In addition, Asklepios is anticipating proportionate amounts from the central purchase of 10,000 ventilators announced before the German government.

Asklepios massively criticized the planned hospital financing law. Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) had collapsed before the health insurance bureaucratic craze. “With the current draft, short-time work, mass layoffs and bankruptcies are inevitable in many hospitals,” said Asklepios CEO Kai Hankeln.

Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg: Discussion about controversial corona theses

The Bergedorf orthopedist Dr. Matthias Soyka has the former member of the Bundestag (SPD) and doctor Dr. Wolfgang Wodarg unusually clearly criticized for his theses about Corona. Wodarg claims that the Covid 19 epidemic was invented by virologists looking for employment and money for their institutes. Soyka wrote in the medical news service that it was nonsense. However, Soyka finds the message that Wodarg spreads worse: “Everything is half as wild.” If Wodarg was right, great fame would surely come to him after the epidemic.

Soyka doesn’t believe in that. And if Wodarg is wrong with his statements and spreads them further, Soyka concludes, even more people would make the epidemic worse by careless behavior. Soyka zu Wodarg: “You would be a prominent figurehead for all quarantine-breakers. The necessary measures would not be effective or would take effect too late. That would cost many lives and probably prolong the economic damage. “

Nordkirche offers a free pastoral hotline

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany (Northern Church) is setting up a free pastoral hotline. The North Church announced on Monday that it was intended to provide contacts to particularly old, sick and socially isolated people in the Corona crisis. Under the number 0800/4540106, a total of 35 trained pastors will be available as conversation partners daily from 2 to 6 p.m.

The offer of help parallel to the classic nationwide telephone counseling is aimed at everyone, regardless of belief or religious affiliation, said state bishop Kristina Kühnbaum-Schmidt. The far-reaching restrictions on social contacts that have been in place since Sunday are necessary to limit the corona pandemic, but would be particularly stressful for people living alone, said the bishop. “To make heart and soul lighter in difficult times, all of this can be discussed in the pastoral hotline,” she says.

Does the weather slow down the spread of the virus?

The air is currently cleaner than it has been for a long time. According to the meteorologist Dominik Jung, this is not due to the consequences of the corona crisis, but above all to the weather conditions: dry and cold polar air is currently being carried from Siberia via Eastern Europe to Hamburg, according to Jung. “Due to the strong east wind, the air does not calm down and remains clear,” says the weather expert.

Jung did not want to comment on studies that low air pollution could slow the spread of the virus. There are still no clear results and various assumptions.

Hamburg donation parliament awards record amount

For the first time since its founding in 1996, the Hamburg Donation Parliament wants to award funds of more than 400,000 euros without prior coordination. Because of the spread of the new type of corona virus, the meeting, which normally decides on the allocation of funds, has to be canceled for the first time, the association said on Monday. “Extraordinary circumstances require special measures. The Presidium, the Executive Board and the Finance Commission have decided that the 18 projects proposed by the Finance Commission will receive funding without a parliamentary session, ”said CEO Uwe Kirchner.

The funds would initially be paid out for projects that can also carry out measures during the Corona crisis. The others received their grants when they were allowed to start working again. According to its own statements, the Hamburg donation parliament has supported around 1,350 projects in Hamburg against homelessness, poverty and isolation with around EUR 13 million since 1996. Three times a year, the 3,200 members decide at public meetings which charitable projects receive donations. Anyone who pays a membership fee of 5 euros or more per month is entitled to vote. The donation parliament is neither politically, ideologically nor denominationally bound.

Companies should get jobs in the craft

The German Federation of Trade Unions and the Chamber of Crafts have called on Hamburg companies to keep jobs and secure the future of the craft despite the Corona crisis. In a joint appeal, they called on employers and works councils to take advantage of the tools and resources offered. “Secure the jobs of your employees and continue to pay wages,” said the Vice-President of the Chamber of Crafts, Karl-Heinz Westphal. Overtime previously done can now be melted away. In addition, the new regulations on short-time work allowance could avoid early layoffs.

Chamber of Commerce President Hjalmar Stemmann emphasized that the craft businesses “make a significant contribution to securing employment, security of supply and the training of young people” in the city. In the current exceptional situation – unprecedented in this form – the banks in particular should now help unbureaucratically. With the new regulations on short-time work benefits and other support measures, companies would have the opportunity to bind skilled workers to the company and secure employment.

Hamburg pediatrician infected

Excitement in Ottensen: Hamburg’s pediatrician Albrecht Römhild has become infected with the novel corona virus. The practice was closed. According to the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians, the practice will be disinfected and the patients should be informed. Römhild told the NDR that he immediately reported his positive test to the health department. The good thing is that he will soon be able to work again and will be immune when “the giant wave” comes.

Plácido Domingo has Covid-19

In November he sang in the Elbphilharmonie, in March he was supposed to return to his old place of work in Hamburg at the State Opera: but now opera star Plácido Domingo (79) has contracted Corona. He wrote on Facebook: “I believe it is my moral duty to tell you that I have tested positive for Covid-19.”

He was in self-isolation with his family. Domingo urged everyone to be very careful, follow the directions given by their governments, and stay at home as much as possible.

Vier Hamburger wollen Gastronomen retten

Rund 380 “Corona-Kontrollen” in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Controlling crowds of people in the corona pandemic has been a major concern for the Northeast police over the weekend. Among other things, garage parties and larger meetings in gardens were dissolved and a short-term employee meeting of a company in Neustrelitz was prevented with the help of the responsible regulatory office.

Support for suppliers who got into difficulties, however, makes sense. An aircraft has up to 500,000 individual parts. Airbus in Hamburg hat rund 13.000 Mitarbeiter. Dazu kommen Tausende Jobs in Zulieferbetrieben in ganz Norddeutschland.

Johannes B. Kerner über eine traurige Quarantäne

Der Hamburger Universal-Moderator Johannes B. Kerner (55) hat bei „Maybrit Illner“ im ZDF über seine Corona-Quarantäne berichtet. “It’s something that you can feel physically at some point. When his son brought him something to eat, he felt the need to hug him.

For many people, the Corona crisis was drastic and they would remember it for a lifetime. The situation can best be compared to the Chernobyl reactor accident.
