Coronavirus: false articles from the Parisian relayed by high school and college students in Seine-Saint-Denis


They created confusion for several days. Three false articles from Le Parisien, suggesting the presence of the coronavirus in schools in Bobigny and Blanc-Mesnil, have been widely shared on social networks since the end of last week. A similar case was also observed in Essonne this week.

“Coronavirus: a first case detected in Bobigny” (sic) or “Coronavirus: first case confirmed in Blanc-Mesnil. A 15-year-old student at Marcel Cachin college presumed to have the disease ”, here are the titles of these false articles (riddled with spelling or syntax errors) made from screenshots of articles from our newspaper .

Spelling mistakes and homophobic comments

“If there had not been so many spelling mistakes, I would have been able to believe it”, confesses Kenshika educated in first class in the Lycée Louise-Michel de Bobigny, targeted by two montages.

In one of them it is an “English teacher” who would have “contracted the virus” in the other “a young man living in Hoche […] having homosexual drives ”which would have“ infected 28 boys ”. Homophobic remarks that convinced Kenshika that it was indeed intoxicating.

“There is no sensitive situation (Editor’s note: linked to the coronavirus) in these two establishments. The two principals denied to the educational community ”, assures the inspection of the academy.

The administration has also filed a handrail and asked the two establishments concerned to remind students of the good uses of social networks and the means to sort out real information and fake news.
