Coronavirus, Europe is afraid: record of over 45 thousand new infections in France, Germany exceeds ten thousand deaths

In the difficult balancing act between the desire not to further suffocate the economy already put to the test by the first wave of the virus and the imperative to safeguard the health of citizens, for days governments have seemed to veer more and more towards the need for a close to groped to flatten a contagion curve that appears out of control.

Slovenia has included more than half of our regions on a red list that provides for a ten-day quarantine obligation for those arriving from there in the country, or a negative test no older than 48 hours. The areas concerned are Abruzzo, Valle d’Aosta, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Sardinia, Tuscany, Umbria, Veneto and the Province of Bolzano. Local media had even spoken of a closure of the borders with Italy starting from Monday, but at the moment all the crossings remain open for Slovenian and Italian citizens.

It is a new record of infections also in France, with 45,422 positives compared to Friday and the positivity rate which reached 16%. The number of deaths in one day decreased, 138 against 184 on Friday, and the number of new hospitalized in intensive care slowed down, which were 233 against 300 the previous day.

Meanwhile the Czech Republic it is confirmed as one of the most serious European outbreaks, with over 15 thousand infections and 126 daily victims: numbers that are impressive when you consider that the country has the same number of inhabitants as Lombardy, just over ten million. Other peaks have been reported in Balkans, in Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia.
