The organizers of the World Mobile Fair (MWC) in Barcelona (Spain), the annual high mass in the sector, have announced measures to deal with the new coronavirus after the announcement of the discontinuance of Ericsson or LG.
All travelers from the (Chinese) province of Hubei
where is located the city of Wuhan, cradle of the new coronavirus, will not be allowed to enter
at the show, said in a press release the world association of telecom operators (GSMA) which organizes the MWC.
Those who have been in China will have to prove that they were outside China 14 days before the event
which begins on February 24, she added.
The organizer also plans to make temperature tests
on the show.
109,000 people expected at MWC
The announcement by GSMA comes two days after Swedish telecoms equipment supplier Ericsson, one of the world’s largest suppliers of operators, canceled its presence at the show.
It was the second major withdrawal, after that of the South Korean LG, for the annual high mass of the mobile telephony, while several Chinese groups, among which ZTE and Huawei, announced their side of preventive measures draconian for their teams who will travel to Spain for the occasion.
The MWC, which will take place from February 24 to 27, 2020, attracts more than 109,000 people from around the world each year.
