Intervention in our newspaper by the president of the Salerno Order of Nurses, Cosimo Cicia, who asks: “We are all focused on Covid, but what will become of Patients suffering from other pathologies?”.
In such a moment of state of emergency, which requires facts and not words, it may seem extemporaneous and anachronistic to externalize considerations in relation to facts that also have their importance.
The facts are that theCovid emergency it explodes waiting lists for other diseases and many people are risking their health due to difficulties in receiving the services booked and canceled due to the pandemic; then if you want an appointment for first visits or exams, you are close to impossible.
I am not exaggerating because we are making water everywhere to the detriment of the health of citizens and because prevention has become a dream: a visit that has been managed to book months after the prescription is canceled due to the pandemic, you have to rebook it (with the process of redoing the assignment) and another year of waiting is needed to access the visit, with all due respect to prevention.
The Coronavirus, in the tragedy it brought with it, did not cancel the other diseases!
All restrictions on movement, the provisions on distancing and other prohibitions and rules are fine, but the choice of favoring, to the detriment of those suffering from chronic diseases equally dangerous to life, those infected by the pandemic is not acceptable.
The motto, in order to guarantee the right to health, is: cure everyone, do not convert everything (for the treatment of Covid).
There are many reports, often disarming complaints, to which it is no longer possible to give answers but which clash violently against the idea of health for all.
Citizens feel alone in the face of the disease!
The proposed organizational changes were not conclusive and everyone who deals with health knows this.
I strongly say that the problem is serious and has exploded in all its drama in the emergency that highlighted the need for a different organization of health care in the area so as not to forget anyone: for this reason we cannot minimize anything!
This is not the welfare state of a civilized country!
Sorry to say: everyone knew, and said, that there would be a second wave but nothing or little was done to be prepared.
This is what is criticized for those who ‘competent’ should have made the choices and organized the answers.
